The KU Department of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity (HR/EO) engaged in a self-study to obtain feedback from the campus community regarding the quality of the department’s services and to identify service enhancements for improving HR/EO’s support of the University’s mission. The self-study included three components as noted below.

Web Survey: With the assistance of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning, HR/EO conducted a web survey between November 1 and December 21, 2007 to solicit information regarding HR/EO service quality and desired service enhancements. A total of 4,712 faculty/staff were invited to participate, with 1,171 responding. Of the 4,712 invited to participate, 660 were managers/administrators and 4,052 were faculty/staff.. There were 326 responses from managers/administrators (a 49% survey response rate). There were 845 responses from faculty/staff (a 21% survey response rate).

The definitions of HR/EO functions and a summary table of the survey findings for the various HR/EO functions by customer type are provided here.

External Consultants' Review: On March 3, 2008, three external consultants from North Carolina State University, the University of Florida, and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln visited campus. The consultants met with campus vice provosts, deans, and administrators/managers to obtain feedback regarding the services provided by HR/EO and any suggestions for service enhancements. Their report is expected at the end of March, 2008.

Implementation Plan: An implementation plan will be developed to take into account suggestions from the self-study.
