  • Martin Luther King Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day are academic, as well as State holidays; consequently, departments should either be closed or staffed at reduced levels.
  • During spring and fall breaks classes are not in session; however, campus departments will remain open and fully staffed during the normal work week. Any staff or fiscal year faculty wishing to take time off will need to request annual leave.
  • Consistent with the needs of departments, staff may request to, or be asked to, work on a holiday. Those USS and unclassified, non-exempt staff who are authorized to work on a holiday may accrue holiday compensatory time for later use.
  • Academic year faculty, student employees, temporary employees, and employees who work irregular schedules are not eligible for holidays.
  • Unclassified faculty and exempt staff are not eligible to accrue holiday compensation when they work on a holiday.
  • Part time regular employees - If the holiday falls on a day the employee is not scheduled to work, the employee is not eligible for holiday credit.
