On March 13, 2008, the Kansas Board of Regents designated Veterans Day as an observed holiday for unclassified fiscal year faculty, academic staff, and professional staff. Under the revised Board policy, all listed holidays will be observed, even if classes are in session. In addition, this policy resulted in a change to compensation paid to exempt (salaried) unclassified fiscal year faculty, academic staff and professional staff who are required to work on an observed holiday.
University support staff eligibility for Veterans Day remained unchanged.
University offices must remain open since classes are in session.
Staffing levels may be adjusted as appropriate by department heads.
Employees wanting to take Veterans Day off should request it from their supervisor in the same way that vacation leave is requested
