Each spring Human Resources & Equal Opportunity along with the Chancellor and Provost offices host an event to honor KU employees for their years of service to the University. In addition, Employees of the Month are recognized and the Employees of the Year are announced. Employees are encouraged to attend. Announcements of the event are made by email and in the Oread as well as in the Calendar of Events on various websites.

Service Awards

University of Kansas service pins are given to 5 through 15-year honorees, and gifts in addition to service pins are given to honorees with 20-55 years of service.

Employee Recognition

Employees of the Month for each month are recognized at the annual ceremony. An Employee of the Year for University Support Staff and Unclassified Professional Staff are selected from the April - March employees of the month.

These selected employees have already received:

a surprise visit from the Provost or his designee
a certificate of award
their biography printed in the Oread along with their picture
$750 gross monetary award

Employees of the Year are announced at the annual ceremony.
These selected employees receive:

glass embossed trophy (presented at the annual ceremony)
a certification of award ( presented at the annual ceremony)
their name is included on the employee of the year plaque displayed at the Kansas Union
notice in the Oread
reserved parking space for one year
$1500 gross monetary award

A Team Award may be announced at the annual ceremony.
The selected team members will receive:

team luncheon with the Provost
a certificate of award
