Service pins are provided by Human Resources and Equal Opportunity (HR/EO) to campus department for recognition of service to the State of Kansas by faculty and staff. The service pins are awarded by departments in a manner they deem appropriate, recognizing State service in 10 year increments from 10 to 50 years. The date used to calculate eligibility is the fiscal year (June 30), i.e not the same eligibility date used to determine eligibility for KU Service Awards.

Faculty and staff with 40 or 50 years of State service are invited to a reception with the Governor in Topeka. The reception honors all State employees with 40 or 50 years of State service. HR/EO coordinates that event with honorees.
