1.The Employee Recognition Committee (hereafter referred to as ERC) will be composed of not more than seventeen (17) voting members. A professional staff member from Human Resources & Equal Opportunity (hereafter referred to as HR/EO) shall serve as an ex-officio, non-voting representative to provide staff assistance to the ERC.
The offices of The Provost and HR/EO will each have one voting representative. The remaining fifteen (15) members are drawn from all areas of the University and the affiliated corporations that have been designated as participating in the employee recognition program.
2. No more than nine (9) members of the university support or of the unclassified staff will serve on the ERC at a given time. Majority representation of university support and unclassified staff will alternate from year to year.
3. A four-year maximum term of membership may exist for voting members. Appointment will be made by the Office of the Provost on a rotational basis so as to assure continuity.
4. A Vice-Chairperson shall be elected annually by the members and shall succeed to the Chair the following year.
The Chairperson shall preside at all meetings of the ERC; prepare the agenda for ERC meetings; prepare and sign correspondence in the ERC’s name; appoint all subcommittees and designate chairpersons thereof; work closely with the HR/EO staff member to remain informed about the work of the ERC and progress in the conduct of its business; votes in case of ties; and, performs such other duties as are normally associated with the office of Chairperson.
The HR/EO staff member shall gather and/or prepare from the records of HR/EO and other sources such information and reports as the ERC may deem necessary for the conduct of its business and completion of its mission; coordinate and/or make with other offices of the University, e.g. the Kansas Union, arrangements for facilities or services needed by the ERC for the conduct of its business; and perform such other task as the ERC shall from time to time delegate. rev 08/24/05
