Eligibility for University of Kansas, Lawrence Campus Service Awards
1. Eligibility will be based on having an appointment of 50% or greater and on years of service as an employee of the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Edwards and Medical Center Campuses and participating affiliated corporations as designated in the list below. Employees on phased retirement are exempt from the minimum 50% appointment.
2. Employment or circumstances which will not be counted as contributing to accrued years of service include:
3. An appointment for an academic year shall be counted as one year of service. Similarly, time elapsing while on an authorized leave will not be deducted from the length of service.
4. If an employee retires during the year in which he/she is to be honored and that employee has accrued the necessary service time prior to the Recognition Ceremony, the retiree will be invited to attend the ceremony and receive his/her service award.
5. Service will be based on the calculation of adjusted KU start date as determined by HR/EO adhering to the above calculation guidelines. The cut off date for counting service is September 18th of the recognition year.
